Billie Claire is an illustrator and digital artist, specializing in hand lettering, botanical drawings, and graphic design. She loves making people laugh from the unexpected, and enjoys pairing elegant florals with profanity and sass.

All of Billie Claire's designs are hand drawn - most are done with pencil and Micron ink pens in her sketchbook, while a few she is playing with in ProCreate. Every piece is then vectorized and colored using Adobe Illustrator, and printed by a professional print shop located right outside of Washington, DC. Each product is then finished and hand packaged in her little art studio in Church Hill, Richmond, Virginia.

Claire (named after her Great Aunt Billie Claire), is originally from northern New Mexico, where she grew up building forts and catching blue-tailed lizards with her sister. After going to school in New Orleans and falling madly in love with that city, she spent a decade in Austin, Texas, which is where Billie Claire Handmade was born (and where her obsession with tacos began). In search of change and new places to explore, Claire and her husband moved to Washington, D.C. in 2019, where her retail journey began, and she became a regular vendor at the historic Eastern Market in Capitol Hill. After a weird Covid year, her husband, new quarantine puppy, and whole little business made the move to Richmond, Virginia; where she spends her days drawing inspiration from the James River and spring blossoms and eating incredible pastries.
